The second NEXT-GEN Workshop, was held between the 17th and18th December in Gaziantep. The participants were the principals of the schools from 11 pilot provinces, representatives of municipalities, provincial directors and/or deputies of national education, and the representatives of Conservation, Implementation, Control and Education Bureaus (KUDEB). The first session was a panel entitled ‘’Interference between Universities, Municipalities, Industry and Vocational High Schools’’. It is moderated by MSc Architect Yasemin Somuncu, and the panelists were Prof. Dr. Pınar Mengüç (Center for Energy, Environment and Economy Director), M.Sc Architect Seda Müftüoğlu Güleç (Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Zoning Department Manager) and Serpil Serin Sefa( GASİMEP Project Coordinator). After ’’Energy Efficiency Concept, Current Situation in Turkey and in the NEXT-GEN Pilot Provinces’’ presentation was given by M.Sc Architect Yasemin Somuncu. Following, “Financial Approaches Towards to Energy Efficiency in the Next-Gen Project Provinces” was presented by Özlem Yakut and Mesut Avcı of (TURSEFF representatives). In the last session, “Energy Efficiency for Cultural Heritage Buildings and Potential of Next-Gen Project Provinces” was presented by Dr. Banu Pekol.
The second day of the workshop started with Gaziantep Ecological Building tour. NEED4B and BRICKER projects were presented by MSc Architect Yasemin Somuncu within the scope of best practices for energy efficient new and existing buildings, and TAMİREVİ project was presented by Architect Süreyya Topaloğlu as an example for the best practices for Cultural Heritage Buildings. “ISO 50001 Processes and Feasibilities at the Next-Gen Project Provinces” explained by Naci Işıklı, who is the board chairman of EYODER. Following the final presentation entitled “Energy Audit Processes and Feasibilities in NEXT-GEN Project Provinces” by MSc Architect Nil Kutlar, a workshop was held with the participants.
