NEXT-GEN, The New Project of EÇEM Funded by the Islamic Development Bank Started Officially as of 1 July 2019

The new project of CEEE, “NEXT-GEN; Next Generation”, has been funded by a grant from the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Fund of “Transformers.” The NEXT-GEN Project has the vision of training the future local energy efficiency leaders. The Project continues for 14 months and is conducted in cooperation with the Ministry of National Education and the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources. Our first aim to carry out studies to include energy efficiency in the curriculum and establish an energy efficiency teaching module within the municipalities, together with pilot vocational and technical high schools and municipalities in 10 Southeast Anatolia provinces including Adıyaman, Batman, Diyarbakır, Gaziantep, Kahramanmaraş, Kilis, Mardin, Siirt, Şanlıurfa and Şırnak.

CEEE has officially started its project by signing the cooperation protocol with the Ministry of National Education. The first of the works specified under this protocol took place on 2-6 September at Özyeğin University Campus, and Energy Efficiency Training Workshop held with a total of 30 instructors from pilot schools, and 10 energy managers, 10 municipal representatives. In the next step, the energy efficiency road map for different countries is planned to be created. The initial plan was to apply the NEXT-GEN teaching modules to Tunisia, Mauritania, and Niger.
